Abstract

VIDAL ZEPEDA, Rosalía. Condiciones pluviométricas en los estados del norte de México. Invest. Geog [online]. 1994, n.29, pp.41-65. ISSN 2448-7279.

A brief analysis on precipitation characteristics was done: in an attempt to improve the rational use of water in the arid lands in the northern part of Mexico annual rainfall distribution, mode of precipitation and rain regimes. The maximum rainfall in 24 hours was evaluated from May to October, as well as the annual, also the monthly average rainny days were calculated. The return periods for different amounts of maximum rainfall in 24 hours was calculated for September. The most frequent weather systems responsible for the high precipitation amounts were studied in the daily cloud satellite images. This paper pretends to be a contribution to the Geography of arid zones, where the knowledge of the climatic elements and controls are important, because of their direct influence in some of the regional development activities.
