A geomorphological map, scale 1:250 000, of the western part of the Basin of Mexico is used to show the basic structural relief forms, as well as the past and present processes shaping them. The present paper is focused in the analysis of the Sierra de Monte Alto, a single structure whose origin is related to volcanic activity in a weak area during the Late Pleistocene, possibly accompanied by block movements. The main valleys, shown on the map, are the evidence of a series of lineaments, with a nortwest direction in the oldest structures and a northeast direction in the youngest.
