The yoreme/mayo is the largest indigenous group in Sonora. Residing in municipalities where poverty, marginalization, inequality, expulsion of the population and the natural resource deteriorations are becoming deeper. This paper explore the trascendece of four mirrours butterfly (Rothschildia cincta) in the religious festivals of the yoreme/mayo like a possible alternative of tourism indigenous. Is an exploratory, endogenous and participatory research. The results reveal that traditional knowledge about the bio-cultural binomial (butterflies/ ceremonial festivals) could represent the roots of a real sustainable indigenous tourism alternative from a biological, cultural, social and economic point of view.
