Abstract

DAMIAN HUATO, Miguel Ángel et al. Management of maize in Cohetzala, Puebla. Mexico: between the local and the global. Estud. soc [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.40, pp.331-333. ISSN 0188-4557.

The local-global relationship was investigated in this paper; this was exploring the use of endotec-nologias and exotecnologias in the management of maize in Cohetzala, Puebla, México. With this aim, a survey was conducted to 64 farmers. The use of endotecnolo-gias was estimated based on Appropriation Index Modern Technology (IATM) as well endotecnologias. This is because the Grade of Rural Technology (GETC), and the maize farmers were classified in low, medium and high, according to AITM and QETC. In this work was found that in the maize management was used a syncretism originated from local and global processes, where predominate the local processes. This is because GETC is higher 40.6 than IATM. This is because this kind of technology is intensive, complex, productive, and sustainable.

Keywords : maize management; exotecnologas; endotecnologas; index of ownership of modern technology; grade of using of farming technologies.
