Abstract
SANJURJO RIVERA, Enrique and CAMPOS PALACIN, Pablo. An analysis of economic activities in a manglar area of multiple uses: A study case in San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico. Estud. soc [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.38, pp.195-220. ISSN 0188-4557.
An analysis of the economic activities, economic agents and institutions that interact in a mangrove area is presented. San Blas mangrove, located in the coasts of Nayarit, Mexico, was selected for this study. Single economic activities and the interactions between them are described under a vision of a mangrove (manglar) ecosystem. Rationalities of the economic agents for maintaining the different commercial and environmental economic uses of the mangrove are analyzed. Situations at which economic agents have incentives to protect the ecosystem versus other situations at which the economic uses damage and deplete the natural resources are also described in depth.
