In the agricultural and fisheries sectors in Mexico, the attention of production chains at state and national levels (known as System-Product SP) has been considered a goal of public policies to increase its competitiveness, although in the facts the government and/or institutions have not carried out the appropriate actions to encourage it. Based on the organization (SP), the competitiveness definition is assumed in this study according to their organizational capabilities and future vision, also are taken in consideration technical and market factors of the producers. Based on this, the competitiveness level of the tilapia SPs in Colima, Sonora, Tabasco y Yucatán it is reported with information of the 2006-2008. The opinion of 30 internal and external SP's members were analyzed, same that, are grouped into 3 conglomerates (clusters), explained by six discriminating variables. According to 15 significant variables obtained by one-way analysis of variance, the most competitive SP is Sonora, followed by Tabasco, Colima, and Yucatán. The SPs show deficiencies in inclusion, representation and participation. According to the main world tendencies in this culture and the internal characteristics of the organizations, starting from the results, recommendations in order to improve-ment of their competitiveness are discussed.
