Abstract

SALAZAR SOLANO, Vidal  and  MUNGARAY LAGARDA, Alejandro. La industria informal del mezcal bacanora. Estud. soc [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.33, pp.163-198. ISSN 0188-4557.

Even when the production and commercialization of bacanora is not a clandestine operation anymore, its evolution is still informal. Bacanora 's production and commercialization still develop in old prohibitive schemes. In order to organize the industry it is required to take it to the highest level among the regional development activities and as the most important source or income for thousands of families. The "nostalgic market", where Sonoran bacanora consumers living in Arizona are found, is an important option to place a high value product in the market. This market might be the basis to internationalize bacanora's regional supply, keeping regional and local supply, where consumption is steadily increasing.

Keywords : Informal industry; bacanora; mezcal; competitiveness.
