The following paper is related to some questions that shape the image of democracy in the Latin-Americans states. In the state of art, some representative sociological works are quoted. As main theories, two authors are important to bring, one of them is Jose Luis de Imaz on Sobre la identidad iberoamericana, and the other Martin Lipset on The Politic Man. As Imaz's point of view, we stress the relationship among transculturation in América during XIX and the influence of these practices actually. On contrary, Lipset provide with another perspective of understand for the same issue. ¿how democracy can allow to alternate two antagonist factor such as efficiency and legitimacy. Either point pretends to respond, somehow, to the questions determined above.
