Abstract

LARA LARA, Jaime  and  PLATA PEREZ, Leobardo Pedro. Life Satisfaction and Employment Conditions in México. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2021, n.55, pp.109-126.  Epub Oct 25, 2021. ISSN 2448-7481.  https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/552021/lara.

This paper examines differences in life satisfaction and its various domains among employees in the Mexican labor market. We found that formal long-term subordinates have higher levels of satisfaction than other types of employment. The self-employed and employers are more satisfied with their free time but not with other domains of satisfaction, while informal subordinates have disadvantages in almost all satisfaction domains vis-à-vis formal long-term subordinates. The formal/informal dichotomy seems to be insufficient to describe levels of satisfaction of subordinate employees, since formal short-term subordinates have major disadvantages with respect to long-term formal ones.
