This paper evaluates the effects of corruption control, human capital and other key variables on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of 15 nations with a similar inequality-adjusted human development index, Mexico included, over the 2002-2017 period. To that end, a dynamic panel data model is specified and estimated through the Arellano-Bond Generalized Method of Moments. The empirical evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that in order to stimulate GDP per capita growth, corruption control must be complemented with improvements in the other dimensions of governance and with higher and wiser investments in human capital formation, research and development and physical capital.
