MENDOZA CAMACHO, Jesús Alfredo  e  LOPEZ PORTILLO TOSTADO, Carlos. The Quality of Institutions, Their Impact on the Relationship between Corruption and Economic Growth: a Theoretical Review. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2020, n.52, pp.15-41.  Epub 17-Jun-2020. ISSN 2448-7481.  https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/522020/mendoza.

The purpose of this work is to reflect on corruption and its relationship to economic growth, as well as determine what role the quality of government institutions plays in this relationship. The hypothesis that guides the study is that institutions have a significant role in the variables of corruption and economic growth. Their weakness in establishing and imposing effective responsibilities on political leaders and public servants is a factor with negative effects for their control. Likewise, the reality of the context that exists in Mexico, in general, and the state of Sinaloa, in particular, with respect to the subject under study is explained, reasoning how its effects can be mitigated and with that, influence economic growth. Limitations include the existence of individual behaviors that are difficult to study because they occur clandestinely, given their generally illegal nature. The methodology applied is documentary research. It is an analysis of theoretical reflection on the influence of institutional quality on corruption and economic growth.

Palavras-chave : corruption; institutional quality; economic growth; political responsibility.
