SPERLING, Christian. El lenguaje del juego, by Daniel Sada: A Place to Observe Violence?. Lit. mex [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.2, pp.125-148. ISSN 2448-8216. https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.litmex.28.2.2017.937.
This essay critically analyses the representation of violence in El lenguaje del juego by Daniel Sada. The narrative construction of this novel is based on a rigid dichotomy between the idealized figure of “family” and the criminal elements, which then lays the path to an opposition in the fields of “normality” and “abnormality”. The novel educates its implicit reader in matters of both extremes through “methafictional” triggers that lead to a “(ab) normal journey” common in thrillers; a particular convention that shapes the meaning the represented violence acquires. This article gives context to the construction of meaning within the international market of books and the hegemonic discourse on the criminal actors in Mexico.
