Abstract

The thorough revision of Diario de México, the first 19th century newspaper in Mexico, allows the assertion that it was de Queretaro native, Juan María Wenceslao Sánchez de la Barquera Morales, who introduced romanticism in México, in the narrative field. “Anécdota moral”, the first short story that took care of the romantic aesthetic was published either january 6 or 7 of 1806, it already contained the motives, themes and most sought out characters of the movement, that will, once again appear in the short story, “Anécdota curiosa”, published between december 30 and 31 of 1806. The design of both texts, wins Sánchez de la Barquera Morales, the honor of being the first mexican romantic narrator.
