NUNEZ, César Andrés. Beyond Politics: Spain and the Spaniards in the Magazine Taller (1938-1941). Lit. mex [online]. 2012, vol.23, n.2, pp.63-95. ISSN 2448-8216.
The importance of the work of Republican exiles on Taller magazine is well-known. Contact between Spanish and Mexican writers produced modifications to the aesthetic projects of both groups. The conflictivity of these modifications is particularly apparent in the treatment of the Civil War in the exiled writers' work. The creative pieces published in the magazine's pages reveal a tension between social and aesthetic compromise; the resulting poetics has an impact on Mexican literature. In their critical texts, the Spanish writers refuse to acknowledge their condition as exiles. Referring instead to the American atmosphere, they participate in the Mexican "national" debate. In short, these representations demonstrate the conflicts of the literary field of the era.
