This essay examines the play El gesticulador by Rodolfo Usigli from the semantic levels of discourse postulated by Greimas, collected by Joseph Courtés, and from the perspective of the ideas about power of Elias Canetti. The Greimas semantic levels are categorized by figurative, thematic and axiological planes. Also, the positions in the discourse on the exercise of power and its nuances in the dramatic work of Usigli will be identified in this work.
