Abstract

This essay proposes an analysis of the intertwining between the ethical and political spheres in Manuel Payno's most famous novel, based upon a study of the tropology of the reading that it proposes, as well as of the subjects that are virtually summoned there. The article proposes also an interpretation of the allegorization mechanism by means of which the disruptive effects, posed both by the monthly installments structure and the critical dimension that this novel carries implicitly, are countereffected.
