Abstract

VAZQUEZ LINAN, Miguel  and  LEETOY, Salvador. Historic memory and propaganda. A theoretical approach to the communicative study of memory. Comun. soc [online]. 2016, n.26, pp.71-94. ISSN 0188-252X.

In this article we present a theoretical proposal that links the studies (and policies) regarding historic memory to those related to the cultural industries and media systems through which the narratives associated with a politically interested memory flow, denominated here as propaganda. To this end, we address a theoretical debate that links the aforementioned concepts, placing emphasis on the possible contributions of the propaganda studies to the debates on historic memory and the construction/ manufacture of social imaginaries.

Keywords : Memory; propaganda; social imaginaries; power.
