Abstract
MEJIA NUNEZ, Gerardo. Whiteness in Mexico according to Cosas de Whitexicans. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2022, vol.84, n.3, pp.717-751. Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2022.3.60323.
In Mexico, persisting logics of exclusion and privilege associated with whiteness can be observed in different virtual expressions in socio-digital networks. This article reflects on the multiple meanings of skin color, as evident in the reactions to the humorous posts on the Cosas de Whitexicans Twitter account. These spontaneous expressions show the absence of shared meanings about whiteness, which prevents the recognition of the social privileges associated with having a light skin color as part of a colorist racist logic.
