This article presents an analysis of the meaning and configuration of political and social participation in a situated network of residents in one of the most precarious popular enclaves in Mexico City. Through a research design based on the implication analysis method, the research highlights a set of systematic features where the vicissitudes of the life course, the need for survival, the search for social status and the struggle to overcome exclusion combine to give rise to intermittent trajectories of community activation.
