Abstract

REA ANGELES, Patricia; MONTES DE OCA ZAVALA, Verónica  and  PEREZ GUADARRAMA, Karla. Care policies with a gender perspective. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2021, vol.83, n.3, pp.547-580.  Epub Sep 13, 2021. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2021.3.60132.

This article aims to review the academic and political debate on the creation of a National System of Care (NSC), where the gender perspective and human rights are key. To do this, it reviews the bibliography generated by research carried out during the last 20 years in Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean on the work of care and the right to care for the elderly. The proposal is to see this topic from a life course perspective, with gender and human rights approaches. The work contains public policy recommendations for the creation of an NSC.

Keywords : care; caregivers; elderly people; women.
