ROSENZVIT, Dana. Race and neoliberalism in Argentina and Uruguay. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2020, vol.82, n.4, pp.865-891.  Epub 27-Jan-2021. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2020.4.59210.

Since 1989, the dominant narratives about the Argentine and Uruguayan nations reached a turning point, generating transformations in the relationship between the nation-state and the racialized historical diversities that coexist within it. The aim of this paper is to analyze comparatively the official policies implemented by both states in relation to their Afro-descendant population within the framework of hegemonic global multiculturalism. The paper seeks to account for the way in which the co-construction of race and nation was modeled by the state, within a particular correlation of forces, by a combination of governmental purposes and the historical senses prevalent in each nation.

Palavras-chave : state policy; afro-descendants; Argentina; Uruguay; neoliberalism.
