CUBILLOS CELIS, Paula Carolina. Neoliberalism, targeted policies and children in Chile: 1973-2010. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2019, vol.81, n.3, pp.611-636.  Epub 20-Feb-2020. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2019.3.57923.

This article seeks to analyze social policies targeting children in the health and education sectors, implemented in Chile between 1973 and 2010. The political-economic transformation that took place in the country during the military dictatorship and was subsequently consolidated during the democratic period introduced new mechanisms of access to rights, shaping a hybrid residual-extended social state model. This model introduced targeting as a mechanism of social justice. Through a qualitative methodology, the article analyzes the sociopolitical implications of this welfare philosophy.

Palabras llave : social policies; targeted policies; childhood; neoliberalism; Chile.
