The purpose of this article is to reconstruct the network of devices through which default is structured as a specific category, with the aim of regulating the processes of monetary indebtedness in the Argentine economic-financial sphere. To this end, it analyzes the knowledge and instruments (economic precepts, legal standards, organizational procedures, applied technologies) that take place in the production and legitimization of default as an expert category. The hypothesis is that the analysis of default will shed light on the logic and meanings that organize credit and debt activity.
