Resumen
LABARCA PINTO, José Tomás. The "short-cycle" of the Chilean student movement: Sectoral conflict or systemic questioning?. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2016, vol.78, n.4, pp.605-632. ISSN 2594-0651.
This article proposes an understanding of the Chilean student movement on the basis of two converging elements: a structural analysis of the effects of the implementation of the neoliberal system and its consequences on the class structure, and an analysis of the legitimacy achieved by the movement. Thus, one of the key findings is that the Chilean student movement did not advocate sectoral demands, but questioned the character of the state as a whole. Despite its failure to achieve changes in the education policy, the student movement paved the way for Chileans to be able to imagine a different form of democracy.
