Resumen

INZA-BARTOLOME, Amaia. Social investment as a response to New Social Risks. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2015, vol.77, n.3, pp.385-406. ISSN 2594-0651.

Nowadays, welfare states have to redesign their structures to respond to the New Social Risks derived from post-industrial society. The social investment strategy proposes an alternative with a forward-looking perspective within the framework of neoliberal globalization, since it proposes preventive resources to "prepare" citizens during the course of their lifetime, and avoid "repairing" them in vulnerable situations. This text describes certain features of postindustrial society and the diversification of risk that it implies and examines the theoretical approaches of the strategy called "social investment".

Palabras llave : welfare state; post-industrial society; New Social Risks; economic competitiveness; social investment.
