The article examines the relationship between external variables -legal framework and access to funding- and internal variables -size, professionalization- and accountability. It analyzes information from a questionnaire applied to organizations affiliated to the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) which operates in Mexico City.

Keywords : accountability; civil society organizations; professionalization.
