Resumen

FREY, Herbert. Polytheism versus Monotheism: The Development of the Criticism to Christian Religion in the Work of Friedrich Nietzsche. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2005, vol.67, n.3, pp.513-541. ISSN 2594-0651.

If in Greek polytheism men glorified themselves as well as their drives, Jewish-Christian monotheism stands formans alienation from himself and from his natural instincts. Dionysus is transformed into a metaphor of existence in which pain does not stand for any argument against life s assertion; the one god of Western tradition, on the other hand, has to be destroyed in conscience because he has been transformed into the main obstacle to man's self-accomplishment. It is not religion in general that is always shown as a human being's self-interpretation which is transformed in the core of Nietzsche's criticism, but a moral interpretation of the synonymous world of Christianity that showed itself at odds with man's erotic drives.

Palabras llave : monotheism; polytheism; paganism and Christianity.
