This article pursues two aims; i) to share and provide guidelines on the experience of recording the life histories of young males with violent lifestyles in a Latin American city such as Caracas; ii) to comment on the interview method as a form of action that produces knowledge, which in this case is specifically affected by the difference in gender, and, to a lesser extent, the interviewer's age, job and social class.
