Abstract

LAMOUREUX, Guy  and  ARIAS-ALVAREZ, Carlos. Grids II: Aromatic Acidity and Basicity. Educ. quím [online]. 2021, vol.32, n.1, pp.45-57.  Epub Aug 13, 2021. ISSN 0187-893X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2021.1.75670.

The effect of substituents on the acidity of benzoic acids and basicity of anilines has been organized in grids to demonstrate the inductive and resonance effects. The relation between structure and pKa is emphasized by a new educational process: the Search-Organize-Predict (SOP) procedure.

Keywords : Undergraduate; organic chemistry; acid/base; resonance effects; inductive effects.
