AMADOR-BEDOLLA, Carlos. The Nobel prize in chemistry 2017: cryoelectron microscopy. Educ. quím [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.1, pp.3-8. ISSN 0187-893X. https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2018.1.63678.
The 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to three scientists whom, over a period of almost forty years, have solved the momentous problems ‒involving physics, chemistry, mathematics and computation‒ needed to make electronic microscopy useful for the determination of the three-dimensional structure of biochemical complexes, particularly of proteins. Additionally, this complex analytical method allows for the study of the molecular dynamics fundamental for the biochemical action of proteins.
