CARRILLO ESPER, Raúl et al. San Mateo, La Malinche and the Mexican scientific publications. Rev. Asoc. Mex. Med. Crít. Ter. Intensiva [online]. 2015, vol.29, n.3, pp.128-132. ISSN 0187-8433.

Robert Merton observed that better-known scientists tend to get more credit than less well-known scientists for the same achievements, he called this the "Matthew effect". Its significance was thus confined to its implications for the reward system of science. Malintzin or Malinalli, known also as Doña Marina or La Malinche, was a nahua woman who played a central role in the Spanish conquest of Azteca empire, acting as interpreter, advisor, lover and intermediary for Hernán Cortés. The term malinchista refers to a disloyal country person. In this paper we make a critical assessment of the Mexican scientific publications under the vision of Matthew effect and malinchismo.

Palavras-chave : Medical scientific publications; Matthew effect; malinchismo.
