Abstract

Objective: To describe the experience about the albumin administration in the critical care obstetrics patient. Design: Case series. Field: Intensive Care Unit of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Hospital General de México "Dr. Eduardo Liceaga", México D.F.; in the period January 1-July 31, 2014. Patients: 57 patients with different diagnoses. Intervention: Albumin administration based on colloidosmotic pressure and Briones index. Methods and results: We collected and analyzed clinical and biochemical data during the treatment, we found that 100% of the patients had a favorable outcome, without adverse events related to the intervention. Conclusion: The administration of albumin in critical care obstetrics, based on colloidosmotic pressure and Briones index, results in a favorable outcome, without any adverse event related and should be considered for the critical care physician.
