Abstract

ARELLANEZ HERNANDEZ, Jorge Luis. Drug use and responses to stress among Mexican migrants headed to the United States. Frontera norte [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.56, pp.113-133. ISSN 2594-0260.

Today, the conditions for moving from one country to another, from one region to another, are more complex. The stress level experienced by the person who migrates can represent a vulnerable situation. The way to deal with this emotional distress can lead to two alternatives; facilitate their adaptation to the destination or put in a situation of risk, such as illicit drug use. Based on these elements, the quantitative research was designed to explore the presence of migratory stress in a group of Mexican migrants, their coping strategies and relationship with drug use.

Keywords : migratory stress; coping strategies; drug use; Mexico; United States.
