Abstract

FRAUSTO ORTEGA, Jesús. Supply of Water in Northern Border of Tamaulipas. Frontera norte [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.55, pp.153-182. ISSN 2594-0260.

This work examines the issue of the supply of potable water in the border cities of northern Tamaulipas, from the perspective of the human right to water. The question it asks is: How has drinking water coverage developed in these municipalities? Inegi statistics from 1990 to 2010, Official State Newspaper issues, and various secondary sources were reviewed. It was found that the coverage of both drinking water and sewerage is high, above the national and regional averages. However, there are still people without access to water that can utilize the human right to water as a tool for demanding these services.

Keywords : drinking water; sewer; human right to water; border; Tamaulipas.
