The time it would take for urban and rural areas to exit poverty and the minimum economic growth rate to eradicate poverty in a predetermined period of time is estimated using the methodology developed by Chávez (2009). The results demonstrate that if there were an economic growth rate of seven percent beginning in 2010, the time it would take to get out of poverty for urban areas is more than 50 years, and 98 for the rural ones. The minimum rate of growth to eradicate poverty by 2050 is, for urban areas, nine percent and, for rural areas, 18.1 percent.
