Abstract

SANCHEZ BRITO, Ismael; ALMENDAREZ HERNANDEZ, Marco Antonio; MORALES ZARATE, María Verónica  and  SALINAS ZAVALA, César Augusto. Existence Value of Hydrological Ecosystem Service in the Biosphere Reserve Sierra La Laguna, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Frontera norte [online]. 2013, vol.25, n.50, pp.97-129. ISSN 2594-0260.

Reserve's main source of supply is groundwater and due to rapid growth in the southern state, has raised the need to extract water for provision which has exceeded the capacity of recharge leading to a water deficit. For this reason, the aim of this study was to calculate the existence value of ecosystem services provided by the collection of rainwater allowing recharge through the contingent valuation method. Willingness to pay (WTP) was 93 to 114 pesos.

Keywords : natural protected area; hydrological service; ecosystem service; existence value; willingness to pay.
