Abstract

SALAZAR GUTIERREZ, Salvador. "Imágenes ocultas en la ciudad fronteriza": The Simulation of the Artistic Production as Clandestine Narration. Frontera norte [online]. 2011, vol.23, n.45, pp.257-285. ISSN 2594-0260.

The art of the act of observing has been eroded as a result of a global scene in which the empire of the image dominates the study of daily expressions. The current moment reveals a major contradiction: we encounter an immense multiplicity of visual expressions that dominate the daily scene which we increasingly lack the ability to observe, from a critical visual pedagogy, due to out atrophied vision. Using a cultural approach to examine visual expressions, which in this article focus on the mural production on Ciudad Juárez, and its relations and implications in a stage dominated by increasing violence and a loss of the sense of " being together "socializing", leads to an understanding of the political ethical and cultural implications that art acquires in this border city in the north of Mexico.

Keywords : Mural production; expressive simulation; ideology; visual-critical pedagogy; urban imaginary.
