Abstract

YRIZAR BARBOSA, Guillermo. Migratory and Institutional Policies Concerning Moroccans Living Abroad Political Threat or Transborder Panacea?. Frontera norte [online]. 2009, vol.21, n.42, pp.53-77. ISSN 2594-0260.

This article offers a theoretical discussion about international migration policies, and it analyzes the actions of government institutions responsible for assisting Moroccans living abroad. Based on a literature review, it defines migration policies and shows what actions the Moroccan government has taken towards its migrants. The findings reveal changes in public action and the government's official discourse, which opens a debate on whether international migration can be seen not only as a social process but also as a political one.

Keywords : International migration; migration policies; migration and development; public agencies and government; Morocco.
