Resumen
GONZALEZ R., Raúl S.. Compromised Birth Outcomes among Mexican-Origin Population at the U. S.-Mexico Border. Frontera norte [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.37, pp.59-82. ISSN 2594-0260.
This research on ethnicity, risk factors, and birth outcomes among women of Mexican origin along the U. S.-Mexico border in the state of Texas includes a review of the Hispanic epidemiologic paradox. The study uses a framework that delineates the sociodemographic and biomedical factors that help to explain birth-outcome characteristics for Mexican-origin mothers. Data from a large hospital in El Paso, Texas, is analyzed to determine the frequency of, and the reasons for, birth-outcome disparities in Mexican-origin women from different backgrounds who are residing in the United States.
