Resumen

LOPEZ-PUJOL, Jordi et al. First observation of the mexican endemic Agave difformis A. Berger (Agavaceae) out of its native range. Act. Bot. Mex [online]. 2016, n.115, pp.9-25. ISSN 2448-7589.

The Mexican endemic Agave difformis A. Berger (Agavaceae) is reported for the first time out of its native range. A small population composed of two groups separated by 50 m has been located near the city of Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain). A census of the population has been carried out (a total of 139 rosettes were counted, of which 46 were regarded as adults) together with a morphometric study. The population of A. difformis, which occurs under pine trees in remnants of Mediterranean coastal scrub, appears to be well-established and expanding. The large number of accompanying alien species (as well as some native taxa used as ornamentals) suggests that the population of A. difformis could have originated from dumped garden debris.
