Resumen

ESTEINOU, Javier. La radio de los ciudadanos: Una rendija para el respiro democrático del país. Argumentos (Méx.) [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.77, pp.179-207. ISSN 0187-5795.

The Radio Ciudadana (Citizen Radio) appeared in Mexico in the year 2002 as civil project aiming to promote a democratic culture and the participation of the radio space inhabitants, through several radio shows with innovative formats, which stimulated knowledge, analysis and the solution of public interest issues. With this, the citizen's radio consolidated its presence as a cultural radio option, which opened new communication alternatives to a community that, for many decades, lacked the possibility to express in the nation's public media. After 10 years of existence, this institution has proved being efficient, rich, professional and to have a clear path to create new civil communicational models in the republic. Therefore, this communicational citizen effort cannot sustain anymore as an experimental state-project to exercise media democracy under control of a "political-laboratory". It is crucial that this cultural prototype stops being a calculated experimental essay, to become an organic state-nation project, covering all the stations of the (Mexican Radio Institute) and other stations of the federal government.

Palabras llave : public service media; communication reform; democracy; political aperture; information and plurality; citizen radio.
