The renaissance of republicanism in contemporary political theory has rekindled interest in the studies about historical genealogy of this singular tradition of political thinking. This text offers an approach to the generic and specific definitions of republic and an approach to the historical journey of the concepts of republicanism and republic. This text is a key to distinguish between the radical-democratic republicanism and the liberal-democratic republicanism as well as to analyze the associated effects of the performance of this classification
