Abstract

QUIJANO, Aníbal. The "Indigenous movement" and the pending questions in Latin America. Argumentos (Méx.) [online]. 2006, vol.19, n.50, pp.51-77. ISSN 0187-5795.

In this essay, Quijano examines the political trajectory of the Indian resistance in Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador, describing the recurrent power crisis in terms of a colonialism crisis. He suggests that the achievement of autonomy and a pluriethnic state would not only mark the end of the Eurocentric nation-state, but also force the redefinition of both the national issue and the problem of political democracy.
