RUIZ RAMIREZ, Juan; HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, Gabriela Eréndira; RUIZ BELLO, Romeo y SANCHEZ VIVEROS, Gabriela. Relation of the efficiency of the experimental design in the quality of the experiments of sugarcane. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.3, pp.247-250. ISSN 2395-8030.
A recurring problem in agricultural experimentation is the subjective selection of the randomized complete block design and the lack of evaluation of its relative efficiency (RE) and of measurement of experimental quality. This study aimed to determine whether the correct or incorrect application of an experimental design influences experiment quality by evaluating the relationship between the selection of the randomized block design (RBD) and the quality of experiments on sugarcane cultivation. Twelve fertilization experiments using RBD were established during the period 2002-2004 in the states of Veracruz and Oaxaca, Mexico. To evaluate the relationship between the efficiency of the experimental design and the quality of the experiments, the Kendall correlation coefficient (r) was used, while to test the hypothesis of independence of DBA efficiency and experiment quality, Fisher's exact test was used for dichotomous tables. Both methods were analyzed with STATISTICA software. In the results, low correlation (r = 0.09759) was observed, and Fisher's exact test (P = 1.00000) determined that efficiency of the randomized block design and quality of the experiments are independent. It was concluded that the efficiency of the experimental design is independent of the precision of the quality of the sugarcane cultivation experiments evaluated.
