Resumen

MONCAYO LUJAN, María del Rosario et al. Organic basil greenhouse production in the Lagunera Region. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.1, pp.69-77. ISSN 2395-8030.

The aim of this study was to evaluate production components of basil produced with three types of organic nutrient solution in a greenhouse, in order to establish a production schedule in an arid region of Mexico, the Lagunera Region. Three organic nutrient solutions were evaluated: vermicompost lixiviate (LV), compost solution (SC) and vermicompost solution. A chemical solution (SQ) was used as a control. Two types of substrates were used, one sand (A) and a mixture of perlite-sand (PA) in a ratio of 80:20, respectively. The experimental design was completely randomized 2 × 4 factorial with four replications. The response variables were relative chlorophyll content (SPAD), plant height (AP), number of leaves (NH), leaf area (AF), yield (R), dry matter (MS) and total phenolic compounds (CFT). The results show significant dif ferences for AP, AF and CFT. The organic nutrient solutions had dif ferent ef fects on AP, NH, AF, R and CFT, so that the SQ produced taller plants (73 cm), number of leaves (89 leaves, average) and leaf area (1259 cm2, average) followed by SC and SV. In contrast, LV had the highest R (79 g). CFT production was favored by SV (6.4 mg AG equiv / g BS), whereas the SQ had the lowest CFT (4.6 mg AG equiv / g BS), although this treatment showed the highest content of MS (12 g). Finally, interactions showed highly signi icant dif ferences for AP, NH, AF and CFT. Therefore, it was concluded that organic basil production has potential in the Lagunera Region under greenhouse conditions.
