Resumen

PAZ PELLAT, Fernando et al. Multifractal analysis of soil organic carbon in soils 3: Scaling estimations. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.1, pp.89-95. ISSN 2395-8030.

In soil organic carbon (SOC) surveys the number of field samples is limited. In this scenario the use of remote sensing technology is a promising alternative. The problem of relating remote sensing spectral information to SOC field information occurs when attempting to define a scaling function that would determine SOC at the scale of pixels in satellite images. Thus, in this paper we use the multifractal process theory and the parameters of the universal scaling function of SOC in Mexico (period 2001-2002) to derive scaling relations for the statistical moments of a lognormal multifractal, which was used to model the SOC scaling function. Finally, the results are presented of scaling from field samples to dimensions of the pixels of different satellites. In addition, the case of scaling average SOC in samples from a one inch, or larger, auger is discussed.
