The soil degradation starts by elimination of vegetation, nevertheless currently it is not well known what is the sequence of changes and the impact that this action causes over the soil properties in the long term. The purpose of this research uses to compare and analyze the dynamic of 16 properties of two kinds of alluvial soil (with different texture) through the time, comparing different sites where the soil is protected by a plant cover and other nearby sites where the soil is naked throught degradation process. Mexico the sampling took place three times per year during four years to register the variation and trends of 16 physical and chemical properties. Data were analyzed with aid of parametric and no parametric multivariate analysis. The results showed that most of the properties did not show significant variation regarding the time; this means that four years was not enough to register important changes. Nevertheless, the site condition was the most important fact because it affected significantly more properties. Sites protected by vegetation were the most stable and presented less differences in their properties compared to naked sites. The most related properties to the site condition were: infiltration, bulk density, porosity, organic matter, and pH. The organic matter tended to be the key factor due to its influence on all other properties. It was observed that soils with a fine texture have more risk to physical degradation, because it causes the sealing and crusting of the soil.
