This work discusses disciplinary perceptions and their derivatives with emphasis on interdisciplinarity and its prospects for application in Information Science. The author reflects on the epistemology entailed in designing an interdisciplinary dialogue with theorists and scholars regarding interdisciplinary approaches to Information Science. This paper contemplates the application of principles and theories of interdisciplinary approaches to the construction of knowledge. Findings suggest Information Science employs an interdisciplinary set of perceptions that are brought to bear depending on the particular social, historical and scientific approaches applied to the humanities, social sciences, and health sciences.
