Analysis is made of four variables in the Mexican Index of Scientific and Technological Research of CONACyT (2006-2007): responsible institution, periodicity, language, and index and abstracts service, taken from three secondary information sources. Research was limited because the level of description among the sources differed substantially. The study, nonetheless, evidenced that publications of the Mexican Index of Journals and Technological Research posses at least two of the necessary characteristics needed to be included in international services of indexes and abstracts.
