OCHOA FUENTES, Yisa María et al. Identification of Fusarium species in garlic seed from Aguascalientes, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Mic [online]. 2012, vol.36, pp.27-32. ISSN 0187-3180.
Garlic in Mexico is one of the most profitable crops and has a number of plant health problems, among which are those caused by fungi. The genus Fusarium has shown greater presence for the past eight years, and has been associated with new symptoms in the garlic cultivars of Aguascalientes and Zacatecas region, called basal rot. Given the importance of this disease in the garlic producing area, we raised the need to identify Fusarium species involved in this disease morphologically and molecularly. With these methods, we identified four species, namely Fusarium verticilloides, F. acuminatum, F. acuminatum, F. solani and F. oxysporum.
